Client running SAGE 100 ERP v4.40 PU6. Reports last week he worked with his outside IT service firm and recovered from a hit from ransom ware (Crypto - something). The IT folks restored the SAGE 100 from backup and everything seem to be working ok. Except now the tab key and the enter key are not behaving properly. The tab key does NOT take you to the next data entry field like before. Even when you launch SAGE 100 ERP and try to log in, you have to use your mouse to navigate from the ""User Login"" box to the ""Password"" box. Data entry folk are using the mouse to navigate from field to field and hate it! I looked up the issue in the knowledgebase and found entry ID:39985 that identified this behavior as a result of the ""Crypto"" virus. The only resolution was to restore the entire MAS90 directory from backup. Which is what the client did. Client called SAGE Support and was emailed a knowledgebase article ID:39985 (same number) but this article had a second resolution to take the original 4.40 media and run a system repair. Question 1: Why does SAGE Support have knowledgebase articles that contain more information then the same article in the Partner Portal SAGE Knowledgebase? Question 2: Is it reasonable that a reinstall from the 4.40 CD will fix the tab and enter key issues?

Is it MAS 90 or 200? The tab / Enter keys and related screen library stuff is handled by a set of files under the mas90\\home directory. So a complete successful restore of \mas90 would appear to be sufficient.

It is MAS 90. If I perform a re-install from the 4.40 CD will all the Tab / Enter keys and related screen library stuff be reset to factory defaults? Will I need to use Custom Office to re-establish all custom tab settings?

Presumably not because your customized screen libraries (M4L and LIB files) are in the Mas90\MM\Custom folder (where MM = Module Code). But are you saying the restore of \mas90 itself did not work? If it did work, then leave it at that - that's my take anyway.

The restore did work in that they are in MAS90 and are able to process transactions. However, the TAB and ENTER keys are not functioning like normal. SAGE Support said to perform the re-install of the software to ""fix"" the bad behavior of the TAB and ENTER keys. I'm just not sure.

Reinstalling would replace all the _winproc and _nomads files which deal with the tab /enter key but a complete restore of \mas90 should have done the same. In case it wasn't a completely successful restore (e.g. restore log showed files in use) Perhaps you could try re restoring to a different location on the server and test that. If that works you could copy that Home directory and below to the live. Just random thoughts.

Thanks @AlnoorCassim for the advice. I will give the restore to another location a try.
