Client on 2018.2 Standard with Payroll in Idaho. Client claims that taxes are being take out at DOUBLE the rate! Had them review Earnings Codes and tax rules, very basic payroll - just regular wages. Any other thoughts on where to start looking before I dive in or has anyone seen anything on this in the KB that I might have missed?

Thanks for the update, @MichelleForsey! I'm watching these posts carefully since I now have 1 customer on 2018 payroll. It's a brave new world!

Well the dumb thing is, @KarenOLane I set up that tax code first, and (NR) was NOT selected. Which means the client went in afterwards and changed it! I am beginning to think I need Alerts and Workflow to babysit all my client accounts and email me when they do something like that! haha!

How many times do we have to tell our customers ""Don't touch the software!"" LOL.

Does NR stand for Non-Resident? When would NR be used instead of the standard check box? How does it affect withholding if NR is used instead of standard? We now know it doubles if both are checked!

@alanniergarth - you are correct, NR is for non-resident. You would use this code for an employee from another country working in the US. There is lots of information in the enclosed Circular E (search for nonresident as the information is scattered throughout the document).

You also use this for state taxes when someone lives in one state and works in another - Indiana makes you pay county taxes even if you live in Michigan, but taken out at an NR rate.

So we have an NR rate for Federal and State. Nice!
