  • 1.  Client just upgraded to v2017 from v440 and heavil

    Client just upgraded to v2017 from v440 and heavily uses Auto Generate from Sales Orders on the P/O Main menu to auto-create POs. They in particular check the box Summarize Multiple Items by Line. At an earlier point when they create a group of SOs that have common items, they key in the same comment in the item line Comment field (the CommentText field for the item not a separate /C line). They swear that prior to upgrade, when the auto-gen'd PO was created, not only would the combined item for the same vendor appear but also the item line comment from the SOs would get filled in as well (it may have been from the last SO in the range or the 1st SO but did not matter to them since it was same exact comment ). In v2017, when you check Summarize Multiple Items By Line, the box for Include Sales Order Item Line Comments becomes grayed out :astonished: Does anyone know when this changed or was it always this way?

    I think the confusion is two types of comments. If you select to summarize, you cannot copy in the comment as entered in the comment field on the item line itself. However, the /C type comments are available to copy over. The greyed out field is the one for the line item comment, not the /C comment which has it's own selection option.

    Are you populating the defaults correctly?

    Doug - I didn't even notice that Defaults button - thanks! I have set it right but it turns out it doesn't change the ability to bring in the item comment line when Summarized is checked. Bill - I'm sure you're right about the confusion. It makes sense to me that it's grayed out too for item comments. I'm just curious if on 4.40 it worked differently. They want a mod now to do ""what it did before"" which is fine. They want me to add the PO item comment based the last SO in their range.

    Alnoor - ran into this type of problem recently (4.40 to 2014 upgrade). If there was only 1 sales order with Item A (amongst group of 5 orders) and the PO was generated, the SO Detail Comments, Customer #, Cust Name were not written to the PO. Sage indicated it was no longer needed. Not sure if this covers your situation. there was a KB 60240, Defecct 104147 that referenced it. Customer really wanted the Customer #/Name so modified Open Order Report. If more than 1 customer ordered the item on the PO, the info prints in the order itself.
