Client is wondering if wondering if there are handheld scanners available that they can configure to scan labels, validate the number and description, then enter a quantity. They have looked at Scanforce and Scanco solutions but don't want to go that route at the moment. Their immediate need is for physical inventory. They currently use a laptop, Excel and a blue tooth scanner. Works fine for their needs. They want to add another scanner for the upcoming count so they want to look at other possibilities. If none exist for their budget, they will acquire another laptop and use it as a workstation throughout the year. LMK TIA.

@JeffSchwenk You need an answer before the end of the day, so here it is. It seems their budget will handle the 2nd laptop and blue tooth scanner but not the more functional, packaged solutions. That works and there are no additional procedures or training required, which is also a savings. I would, however, encourage them to examine the more permanent solutions to understand all of the benefits which go beyond just physical inventory.

@JeffSchwenk I came up with a simple low cost solution (that's easy to use/install but not ""smart"") essentially we export the count sheet to excel using either a crystal report or VI or something. then upload this to a google sheet (so the counters can use their phone at the same time as anyone else). The magic comes in at we used a simple bluetooth scanner that injects a Ctrl+F before the bar code so it jumps to the item on the sheet your looking for, then you simply enter it. once your all done counting you use VI to import the counts into physical. this is the scanner we used (it works with android at least and scanco as well) https://www.amazon.com/NADAMOO-Compatible-Bluetooth-Wireless-Connection/dp/B01HHJVVUY/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1544627490&sr=8-5&keywords=nadamoo+barcode+scanner

@JeremyFox - Your method is basically what we are doing in Excel now with @vlookup functions to validate the item number. User can enter unlimited lines of the same item. We use a pivot to summarize the lines.
