Client is asking a question in an area where I have no experience. They currently use SAGE 100 ERP standard at version 4.4 with less then five users and just basic modules, G/L, A/R, A/P, B/R and soon will implement Paperless Office. The in-house IT person wants to ""host"" SAGE 100 ERP on one of several web servers they maintain in-house. She said she wants to get away from client installs (I guess because of the support headaches between Win XP, Win 7 and now Win 8). Is she really talking Terminal server or Citrix server (I have experience running SAGE remotely) or something else?

Hard to ascertain what she is really talking about. They only way she is going to eliminate the client hassle is to go with TS or Citrix. Unfortunately, that will create headaches. Personally, they should upgrade to v4.5 (or 2013) then determine what headaches remain. Some will be solved, others created.

FWIW, I believe push client installs are on the way.

I would say it does sound like she's referring to Terminal Services/Citrix/RDP.

FWIW - I'd provide the supported platforms matrix and be sure that they understand that is the final determination of what is supported (or not). Don't let support/IT get you into the corner if/when they try running some esoteric setup that doesn't work...

We host Sage 100 for a couple of clients using their license. Acess is provided through a Remote Desktop connection via Terminal Server.
