You can't have two FY 2016 so the new one ending on 12/31/2016 will actually be 2017.
I had this problem with a client before, and they made me change all their prior FY dates so that the year ending 12/2014 was called FY 2013, and the year ending 12/2015 was called FY 2014, so the year ending 2/8/16 would be FY 2015 and the year ending 12/31/2016 would be FY 2016. Should work fine...
