Client accidentally deleted a VI job. I believe they are on 4.4. They have a tape backup of their MAS data. Where are those stored? Can I just restore 1 file, or do I need the whole directory? Thanks

VI (Visual Integrator) jobs cannot be restored individually from backup files. The entire VI sub directory in the ...\MAS90\ folder must be restored when jobs are lost or damaged. Import job settings are saved in multiple data files and each VI data file contains data for multiple import jobs. Unlike other modules where data files and program files stored in separate sub-directories, VI sub-directory contains both. In the case where a previous job was lost and there are new jobs that need to be retained: From Windows Explorer, browse to the ...\MAS90\VI directory on the server. Rename the VI directory to VIOLD. From a backup, restore the ....\MAS90\VI directory to the server ...\MAS90\ directory. Note: In Sage MAS 90 and 200 version 4.0 and later, restore the the ...\Mas90\Mas_System\VI_* files also. Log into Sage MAS 90. Expand Visual Integrator and Main. Double-click Job Export. Locate the job that must be replaced and export the jobs out. Exit Sage MAS 90. From Windows Explorer, browse to the ...\MAS90\ directory on the server. Delete the restored VI directory Rename the system VIOLD directory back to VI. Log into Sage MAS 90. Expand Visual Integrator and Main. Double-click Job Import. Import the jobs that were exported out earlier into Visual Integrator.

Ok, fortunately nothing was changed since the friday backup so I can restore the whole directory. Is this from a blog post or would you like me to post it up on 90minds.com?

Been there and done that. Is just like the old financials. We have found it useful to export any VI job as soon as it finished and functional. Also have a folder to keep copies of Crystal forms and modified reports. We have Clients with quicker clicker employees who will delete most anything that they can't currently identify or remember what it's for.
