Client is on Sage2019 Advanced and they got new servers. Current server is called SageServer1. They want me to do a fresh install on the new server called SageServer2, migrate everything and after they decommision the old one to rename the new server back to SageServer1. Reason being mappings and client setups that are already in place. I guess my question is; is it OK with Sage100 Advanced to do the install and migration with the server being one name and then changing the name of the server.once everything is installed? Any files I should be worried about where the server name is stored when doing an install? TIA

How many workstations are are there?  I worry about the hidden gotchas inside the registry.

Jeff, workstations are about 45 or 50 but it's also other mappings and settings that IT does not want to deal with. I guess we can re install if we have to but I was wondering if there is a better way.

We've had customer IT do machine clones, which worked... but if you are purposefully moving to a new machine (domain change, new version of Win Server...) that is obviously not an option.
I'd say that as long as you only use local paths when installing Advanced, set up the share the same way, deal with the usual firewall issues... then it "might" be OK.

Thank you Kevin and Jeff. We are going to copy everything we need from the old server to the new. Then we are going to shutdown the old server and name the new server like the old and do the fresh install. Hopefully we won't need to bring up the old server..
