Changing fiscal years. I haven't done one in a very long time, but I'm under the impression that GL will go just fine, but the 12 month reports in AR, SO, IM will be screwed up because they don't get recalculated. Is that correct? Has anyone put together VI jobs to fix those?

Check with Randy Marion regarding his AR/AP recalculation program. That should take care of the history in those two module. I would think if you recal the inventory transaction history, that would reset those fields.
