  • 1.  Cancel a Work Ticket (Items Issued) in Production Management

    Posted 02-25-2026 22:47

    Hi 90 Minders,

Does anyone have the best practices for cancelling a work ticket (after items have been issued) in Production Management.

The Sales Order that the work ticket was created for is being cancelled and the client wants to close/cancel the Work Ticket that is associated with it.  They have already issued materials to the work ticket.  How best to reverse the materials and close/cancel the work ticket.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks.

You cannot cancel the PM WT after material issues.  You can reverse the material issue by doing a negative material issue and then complete and close the WT or you can complete and close the WT as is and do an inventory adjustment to put the materials back in place.  Make a back up of the company data before doing a negative material issue as I have a client where this functionality does not work correct.

to expand on what @Michele Herzog mentioned about negative issues not working as expected. I have seen some of what she is talking about. I have mainly seen it when doing negative issues using "Dynamic Material Issues". We discovered this with a client on version 2022. What we saw was the work ticket looked fine when doing a negative material issue. However, the Daily Material issues register either doubled the amount taken out or instead used a positive number and took more inventory out (instead of putting it back in). This client also had Scanco's Multi-bin, and we suspected that enhancement might have been the culprit. They used the transaction entry for negatives until we upgraded them I have not really checked to see if they went back to dynamic negative issues after the upgrade. .

So, I would recommend doing the negatives through the production management menu option Work Ticket Transaction Entry but even then, it might be wise to do it in a test company first and check everything.  After updating check the on-hand quantities on the components, look at the WIP on the work ticket (should be zero after your negative issue everything) and check the GL entry.
