  • 1.  Can you skip 4.50.8 by upgrading to 2017 first?

Sage KB Solution ID: 96276 states

    "Note
: Product Update 8 must be installed for version 4.50 to migrate data directly to version 2018 (6.00). If on version 4.4x and prior, you must upgrade to 4.50.8.0, before migrating data to version 2018 (6.00)

Recommended to upgrade to the most current version possible (such as Sage 100 2017, although that version is now also retired), since retired versions are no longer available to download."

Does that mean you could upgrade 4.40 to a version between  v 2013 and v 2017 than upgrade from 2017 to a later version?  It would bypass the need to upgrade from 4.4x to 4.50.8.

All of my older upgrades have required that 4.50 PU8 be installed.

I've gone from prior to 4.5.8 to v2016 or v2017 and then v2018 and higher.  Didn't stop at 4.5.8.
Just can't go directly to v2018 if on 4.40.

If on 4.5 patching up to PU8+ can save you a separate step, but when starting on 4.40 I'd go with something higher like 2017 instead of the 4.5.8 step.

I had a customer recently upgrading from a very old version and this is the path I was able to take.
    This is for NON-SQL only
I think this was the fewest 'hops' to 2020.

    3.60
    3.71
4.3 ( this is the last version with "convert level 3 data")
2017 ( if you try to skip 2017 and go direct to 2020 you get "must be on 4.5 PU8")
    2020
