Can TimeCard be used without Payroll installed? If a company wants to collect employee hours so they can report to an outside payroll service, can they use TimeCard without getting a Payroll subscription?

Payroll is necessary because you need the PR_Employee table. Your subscription could be the minimum because you are not processing paychecks which is the measure of the subscription cost. That all being said there are solutions to collecting time that integrate to payroll services much better then Sage 100 Time Card.

Thanks Larry. They should definitely look at other solutions to TimeCard. They are currently using payroll and TimeCard version 4.1 and are looking to upgrade. As you mentioned, they only use payroll to get the employee number and name integration to TC. Seems like an outdated solution that would be cheaper and better served with TimeCLock Plus, T Sheets, or one of the other options.

I am in the same boat Doug. Customer actually uses Time Card only to post time entries into Job Cost. They don't do any payroll other than employee name. It is a mess. I am already blue in the face. They will come around at some point. Upgrade is coming.

Cooper - I have another user that uses Sage 100 payroll and job cost and uses TimeClock Plus to capture employee time. They have outside installers that need to keep track of the time worked on each each job. Before each payroll they export the weeks data from TC Plus and VI import to payroll. The jobs get updated for the labor. It works quite well.

You should also look at Insperity Timestar. They almost went with Insperity. Also, TSheets has a nice product.
