It's been a while since I had to upgrade such an old premium version.
Here's the scenario: Final goal is to upgrade to 2018 premium.
Clients production install is 4.50.3 on it's own server and SQL instance. They don't want to touch their production install.
I have 2018 installed on a new server with it's own SQL instance and also a 4.50.3 install with it's own unique instance.
The plan is to migrate from production to the new 4.50.3 version and then apply PU8 to it. After that, migrate from 4.50.8 to 2018.
I ran the migrate.exe and was confused by the instructions on the splash screen.
1. Select Library Master Utilities menu > Pre-Migration to back up your system files - I did this.
2. Manually copy the source MAS_System database to be migrated to the new SQL server instance when migrating system files. Migration system files is required for an initial migration. ???? I already have a MAS_System database in my new SQL instance which I just backed up by using the pre-migration utility. Do I need to over write this database? This is my main concern, do I really have to overwrite the MAS_System database or not?
The source company databases must be copied to the new SQL server instance for each company to be migrated. Is this a straight forward file copy from one server to another or do I need to go through a restore, or attach database process?
Any insight is appreciated.
