Can anyone give me a quick overview on getting data (master files and transactions) out of NetSuite to convert to another ERP? TIA

Your only purpose built export it a full CSV Export which exports your entire Netsuite data base out to a big CSV file. Better option is running searches for the data you want Customers, Vendor, etc. and then exporting them to Excel or CSV files. There is an available ODBC driver but you have to pay for the option to use it.

We had a client migrate from NetSuite to Sage 100 but they pulled all the data. Will reach out to her and find out what was involved. I do remember that only about half of the export routines actually worked so they had a big legal tussle going on that kept their access open for an additional 90 days until NetSuite fixed the export abilities and they got their data.

Below is the message I received from the IT guy at the client referred to above. Pay particular attention to the comment about the governor that Netsuite puts in place to throttle data extraction. I hope this helps. Hi Shawn, The tool I had used was originally under the RSSBus brand but is now called CData Netsuite Data Sync. Overall the software did a great job but do plan accordingly on timing, it takes a long time to sync everything to a local database which I believe is a NetSuite limitation of 1,000 rows at a time (or something similar). Thankfully, since I had found a handful of bugs during the trial, they extended my usage 2 additional months. Here's the link to the software detail: http://www.cdata.com/sync/netsuite/

It's a pricey option but another thought came to mind: you might be able use a warehousing solution like BI360 from Solver who might have and existing integration for extracting reporting data from modules in Netsuite. I think CData Sync would be a better option if your looking for lower level data extraction.
