Can anyone confirm if it's possible to edit the windows registry in order to enable a 2nd installation of the same Sage version on a server. If yes, then please send me instructions on how to do that. I have a client using Sage 100 standard but now wish to upgrade to Advanced. They would also like to locate the Advanced installation on another drive partition. I can't install advanced because the installer routing prevents me from creating a second instance of the same version on the server. The current version is heavily customized and I want to make this upgrade as simple as possible. I can get around this limitation by backing everything up, uninstalling the current version and then restoring it from backup. In the meantime I can do my new Advanced installation and get that written to the registry with new drive location. Thanks in advance.

Since it's Standard to Advanced, I'd probably copy and re-share the existing MAS90 folder to a new location, uninstall Standard (from the original location), and then install Advanced to the new, permanent location. Migrate/convert/test/rinse/lather/repeat...

Not sure how odbc would work with two installations.

Thanks Doug and Steve for the replies. I would like to be able to install Advanced and get it all setup, including third party vendor pieces, leaving the current production version in place and functional. Once the Advanced version is ready to go, I can then do a migration from Standard to Advanced after hours and have them up an running quickly. Current production version is over 70GB in size so i'm somewhat limited by drive space, as far as copying things around and sharing. The new drive partition for Advanced is larger and should give them enough space going forward.

Oh, the third-party stuff might make it a pain. Would Advanced and the Standard 'copy' both fit on the new partition?

I have 7 or eight different versions of Sage 100 on my Win 8.1 computer.. some Premium, some Standard, some Advanced. All seem to work.

I have multiple versions on my own laptop also and have them working. The problem with my scenario is that the Sage Installer recognizes the current version and won't allow another installation of the same version on the server. It will only allow additional module install with new product keys etc. I could click yes and upgrade standard to advanced by keying in the new product keys, but I wouldn't achieve the move to the new drive partition by doing this. I may have to copy and re-share the current version to the new drive partition, uninstall from C:\ and do a clean install of Advanced.

Had this scenario last year. Sage recommendation was for us to copy the existing ..\..\MAS90 to a new folder, Uninsall the Sage 100 Standard from the server; then copy ..\..\MAS 90\ folder back to where it was so the users can continue to work. That would then allow you to install the Advance Version. Their second suggestion was a New Server, and their third suggestion was to upgrade to later version (which is the direction we took with the customer). If you are already on 2016, that greatly limits your choices. Good Luck.
