Calling FRx Guru's. customer is getting: 'Error 5 An invalid character was found in text content' when trying generate a report for Period 13. It worked for Period 11, not sure about 12 and only for 1 location in the tree. Any help would be appreciated!

I didn't look very hard, but I found this article. http://support.microsoft.com/kb/964603

Thanks Gene, I saw this too, but didn't think it applied as why can they run several other branches of the tree for this report but not this specific branch? I can have them try this though.

Still working on this. I believe I found the problem, They are using T_ATTR and posting comment in the column layout. I've narrowed it to 1 account and tried fixing the posting comments that had an apostrophe in the vendor name in GL_DetailPosting.M4T, deleted the .G32, but still getting the error. Anyone know if this is where T_ATTR pulls from?

Gentle reminder - SI designer price increase on 1/1/15. Time to pitch them the upgrade.... This would also get you $500 closer to the gold tier attainment.

What service pack are they on?

    You have the right file and I think you are on to the correct answer. From the FRx Getting Started Guide: FRx does not support the following characters in any field that connects with your chart of accounts and general ledger. / [ ] ; = \ : , "" ! ' - ( ) * & ^ # @ _ $ % ? + { } | < > . ~

Thanks Gene, they are on SP12. It works for all other 'stores' and other periods except the last 2 so figure it has to be data related. i'll keep plugging away.

I would dump the data into Excel and search the comment field for any of the invalid characters.

Yeah, that's what I've done. The posting comments contain /IN: Inv # but they did last month and for all other stores so trying to find things that are unique to this month. At least I have it down to 1 account.

Found it, funky character in the invoice # and posting comment. However, the character didn't export to excel. Showed in DFDM but was not able to edit/delete the character. Had to remove and enter the info again. Finally Done!

@JeffSchwenk I don't think SI will create the transaction detail report showing the GL Posting comments that FRx does (drill down capability on each account isn't going to work for them).

Hmmmm. While not the SI expert, am very surprised that may not be possible.....

you could join in another report in the union report with transactional detail, but that's one thing frx did did do better. it can be done but you would need separate parameters on that one sub report for accounts and date ranges that you want in detail. if anyone else knows a better/ simpler way I'd love to know.
