Calculated freight amount changing between Sales Order and invoice

  • 1.  Calculated freight amount changing between Sales Order and invoice

    Posted 07-07-2025 12:28

Sage 100 Premium 2022. Multiple instances where calculated freight amount based on shipvia and weight changes when an order is converted to an invoice.  Quantities do NOT change.

Has anyone seen this?  Any ideas on how it is happening?

Any entries in the Shipping Rate Maintenance table (sales order setup menu)?  You can look using the UI by making sure the setup options are set correctly.  Ther may be a shipping rate entry recalculating the freight when the order is invoiced.

    1. Expand Modules, Sales Order, Setup, Sales Order Options
      • Click Entry tab
      • For "Use Shipping Code to Calculate Freight", select Yes or Actual
      • Click Accept
    2. Expand Modules, Sales Order, Setup, Shipping Rate Maintenance
    3. If shipping codes will not be used to calculate freight charges, repeat Step 1 above and change to the value back to No.

Seems to be going up, but that may be the only ones the customer complains about...

What's are the calculation types they use?  can you narrow it down to one shipping code?

It's all on one shipping code - the one they use for delivery, and there are no qty breaks - all one rate.

Line weights may change between SO and invoice... and shipping rates may change between SO and invoice.  I believe the recalculation of freight amount always happens in the Pre-Totals event (which is why manual freight amounts never work with the SO option enabled for freight calculations).

I built a query to check if the weight changed and it doesn't

Is this a recent phenomena?   Could someone have changed the shipping rate between order-entry and invoice-creation?
