I got a call from a company that was running Business Works 2013 when their server died.   They purchased from a larger partner back in 2013 and had a maintenance plan through their upgrade to 2018 which they did themselves.   They are considering cloud hosting, but also asked if they could just put it on a PC in their office.   They do have a local IT provider who can setup shares and security, but I could not answer whether BW 2021 or BW 2023 could run on a regular PC (although I do not see why not).

They probably need to repurchase a license and currently have a 4 user license although they only have 3 people accessing the application at a time.

I know Summit hosts BW, but none of the others list it on their websites.

    Thoughts?

You had me at "They purchased from a larger partner back in 2013 and had a maintenance plan through their upgrade to 2018 which they did themselves. "

This is a "call sage at 800-854-3415" response from me.

I see a ton of these types of bad leads and they'll love you -- especially reminiscing about the good old days and how they never want/need to pay a consultant - until the first mention of cutting a check to proceed further.

It'll be very easy to double-check me on this - just mention a price for anything but a license and see how quickly they stop chatting.
