Brett Z. sent me a PM last week (sorry Brett for the delay in posting but I rarely notice my PM tab) asking how to post the link to a specific thread. Many times, someone will post a new question that was answered earlier. It is easier to just post the URL. Below is an example. https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/11453431?ref=stream I have to admit I had the same question a while back and Wayne answered it for me. So now, I am just paying it forward to Brett (and others). Once you've located the thread, click on the time line (next to the answer link of the ORIGINAL post (not the followup response). This will open the thread in a separate window and the URL will be available in the browser address field. Simple highlight and copy. Create your response and paste it in. Very simple and easy. All you have to know is where. And now you do!

Once again, you are so smart Jeff! I was wondering how this was done but now you've laid it out. Will I remember it? Maybe not, but now I'll know who to ask! :)

@ThereseLogeais - You're starting to make me BLUSH............... @DebbieBeach - There are a couple (probably more) utilities that you might find helpful. If you are using a WIN 7 machine, look under Accessories for the snipping tool. This is a great tool for outlining an area of the screen, capturing the image, outlining an important aspect, then copying and pasting to a Word or other document. Another tool that I have been using since the XP days (and recommended by Bill or Bob Pfanhl) os Snagit Editor (http://www.techsmith.com/tutorial-snagit.html). While not free, I don't think I could live without it. Super easy to use. Indespensible if you are writing technical documents and need screent shots. I use it frequently wihen clients have questions on how to do something. Just snap a shot of the screen, highlight the specific areas and send a note back to them. To upload screen shot here, I just save as a PNG file and upload. Can't get much easier. The latest version of Snagit will even record video for training purposes. Check it out.

@JeffSchwenk Thanks!!! This is a great tool. Also I would be interested in what @ThereseLogeais asked about - searching for previous issues :)

Great stuff, @JeffSchwenk. Great workaround for what I had post previously: https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/10867592

And if you want the link clean without the navigation on the left or top, click on the gear and choose pop-out meesage. Copy the link from there. Like this: https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/11453431?mini=true

That's how I had always done it, @BillPfahnl, but unfortunately the gear icon is no longer available on the ""Search Results"" screen for some reason (https://90minds-com.socialcast.com/messages/10867592). @DebbieBeach, the Snipping Tool that @JeffSchwenk mentioned is a nice function, but lots of times I just use the Print Screen button on the keyboard (or Alt & Print Screen) and then Paste into Word or another comparable program. Fyi, Alt & Print Screen typically will just grab the highlighted window whereas just doing Print Screen will grab the entire screen.

Thanks, but I was unclear on my question. I do like the snipping tool and use it often. I thought there was a way to paste the png file directly from there to this screen skipping Word.

Save the image then click Attach file and add it to your message. You don't need to open it in Word.

Glad to know there are multiple ways to find the URL.
