Boy, how useless is SMI. I just installed it on a user's computer. Started by showing the dashboard. 10 minutes later it is still calculating the dashboard. They then ask me what else can it do. I said ""Well umm .....

That's my nightmare. Actually my nightmare is that I've sold them SMI add-ons and have to eat the cost because they are unhappy.

The good news is that I am SURE that Sage will allow you to return them. .... NOT!!!

I just don't get it on the SMI product. It is so freaking slow!! Plus the interface. So freaking complicated.

Did you download the spead patch released last week during Summit? On person claims it is 10 times faster.

Speed patch only works on GL reports; does not affect AR, AP, IM, etc. Dashboard using AP and AR data will be very slow depending on size of data. I ran one on one of our bigger clients and it took almost 45 minutes to run. One of the Alchemex techies told me, though, that a patch was in the works for AR and AP modules for SMI.

When I looked at SMI last year I was able to replace the SOTAMAS90 backend with MS Access (@jimwoodhead - would likely work your Mirror as well) to make the Excel links run fast.

We all need to pay really close attention to this and share knowledge. Let's not all jump into some abyss with this product if it's not working -- or at the very least lets have a good written list of the pros and cons of SMI.
