  • 1.  BOM Copy From A Two Step for New IM Item?

    I have a customer who called - they are on 2018.5 - when creating a new BOM Item ( the item doesn't yet exist in inventory ) they are complaining that suddenly it's two steps.

    1. BOM prompts and creates the IM Item
    2. Then they have to select COPY FROM in BOM again to copy in the BOM ( Kit type )

    I've learned not to doubt users who perform this function day in and day out. So I'm wondering if something changed in a PU or whether anyone else has taken a call on this.

    I can duplicate this on my system if I am working with a brand new IM Item that BOM first creates it in IM Item Master but doesn't <g class="gr_ gr_626 gr-alert gr_gramm gr_inline_cards gr_run_anim Grammar replaceWithoutSep" id="626" data-gr-id="626">not</g> copy the BOM. I have to again select from BOM Maintenance - Copy From to get the BOM lines.

    Just tested in version 2016 and it is working the same - Open BOM, enter new code, select New Item Code from list, click OK, Item Maintenance opens, select Item to Copy From and save (and the screen closes), tab to accept Revision number (on BOM Maintenance screen), click Copy From, select BOM and Revision and click OK, click Accept to save new BOM.  Hope that helps!
