  • 1.  Blank white screen when starting Sage 100 2018

    Client is on 2018 Adv. She had this issue last week as well, and we got it fixed using the following list of things below (without having to do a Run as MAS90 icon).  This time, nothing worked.  She had worked from home yesterday, and got the blank white screen when trying to access Sage at work.  Could not see if there was the "+" in the upper left - white screen was minimized and had no maximize option, only close.

    So I tried - stopping service, renaming Locate and Sessions files, restarting service. Renamed SY_Workstation and SY_Console. Renamed Sage 100 folder in Documents. And here's the kicker - setup a Run as MAS90 icon and got the SAME THING, so it seems that it's not based on those services files.  I also reinstalled the Sage workstation.

    I gave her an RDP so she can run it from a server while I try to get it working from her workstation.  What have I missed?

    Did you check the SOTA.INI file on that local workstation? If you reran workstation setup last time then it would have recreated that file.

     

    Possible that anti-virus is killing SOTA.INI

    Ah, forgot to mention that I did, indeed, check the Sota.ini file and it was fine.  (Not that it would have mattered in MAS90 mode.)

    The AV is a faint possibility and I emailed the IT to see if they changed anything, but doubtful they did since the last time I was able to get it to work and since she worked on it last week.

    Have you tried getting all users out of Sage 100 and then ending any remaining pvxwin32 processes, and checking computer management for open files?  Also I would log in to the computer as domain admin to be sure there isn't a permissions issue.  Also, you might look to see if there is a windows firewall issue by temporarily disabling it on the workstation.

    What happens if you change the workstation name? If you change the name and it works, then it is the table that keep workstation specific info. You don't have to keep the new name, you can set it back and fix remove the record in the table but that is a quick way to see if that is what it is.

    @Todd Martin - thought about that but didn't want to screw up anything else with a new workstation name - never even thought about just changing it back once I know.  DOH! I'll give that a shot.
