Blank Record in SY_User

  • 1.  Blank Record in SY_User

    Posted 08-29-2022 13:50
One of my customers is running into a situation where a blank record is being inserted in SY_User. I have not established any patterns to it. It happened when I was at their site a couple of weeks ago and had happened several times before that.

The Sage 100 activity log doesn't show any changes to SY_User.

The only users with access to the Sage 100 security menus are their controller and me.

When it happens, it causes all reports and forms to print blank. For all modules.

Sage 100 Advanced 2021 PU2 hosted with Summit.

Has anyone run into this before?

    Thanks!

Have there been any imports done on security tables?   Does the SY_Surrogate table last record number match the last record number for SY_User.  The Surrogate needs to be 1 higher if not already.   I would start there.  But that is a weird one. ;)

    No imports on those tables.

SY_User last record number is 56 and SY_Surrogate is showing 59 as the next surrogate number. The difference represents the blank records I've deleted so far.

    Yes, definitely a strange one!

Any 3rd party mods or special changes to code?  You got my curiousity ticking over here.   :)

Any blanks in SY_UserHistory?  (Perhaps it's being copied from there...).

That's a good question that Kevin put out there.  And look in UserSecurity, UserSecurityHistory as well

Looks like Sage removed SY_UserSecurityHistory so disregard looking for that but SY_UserSecurity is s valid table to check.  Also check SY_UserTableSecurity which appears to be new as well.

@Carmen Cruz and @Kevin Moyes I went ahead and checked all of the SY_Userxxxx tables. No blank records in any of them.

Is this a Vanilla version of Sage or is this modified with add-ons.   What if new files were created?   Did this just start happening?

They are using Operations Management but it went live back in November, 2021. This started happening about a month ago.

No new version upgrades or PUs have been installed.

Can you get you hands on the security files from a backup from that long ago??

Unfortunately, they don't have backups going that far back.

The only way to fix this is going to be to build the exact same names but they would have to be tied into the correct user keys that is assigned to the user now.   If these are built a few records at a time you can see when and if it goes into disappearing mode.  Since they don't keep long term backups this is going to be quite the chore to try and solve. .

    It's definitely a strange problem!

I'll look into recreating the table manually.

@Carmen Cruz and @Kevin Moyes Thanks for the suggestions!
