  • 1.  Blank Date in GL_PeriodPostingHistory after Reversing JE

    Posted 01-26-2022 15:08

We have a client on Sage 2020 prior to SU2, when Sage identified and fixed a bug where if the first posting for a new fiscal year is the reversing side of a GL journal entry from the prior year,  the new fiscal year is not set up, and the posting creates a bad record which throws the GL out of balance.

They fixed this in 2020 SU2, so if the client installs an SU higher than 2, it will not happen next year.

Does anyone have any notes on how to fix the out-of-balance condition that this caused ?

After a backup, remove the records with blank years, and recalculate the entire GL, and if so, what is the best method to recalc. ??

Or does anyone know if there was a utility program to correct this ?

    Thanks in advance

    Jeff F.

I would edit the GL_DetailPosting records and run the Recalculate Balances utility

    Jeff -

I can't say whether the recalc fixes the balances, or not, because the Recalc kept saying there was an invalid date, although using @David Speck II's utility showed nothing and exporting from VI showed nothing.  IF the recalc does not fix, you will need to manually change the beginning balances in period 1 for each year and possibly the total debit/credit in the 2022 records.  Hopefully the recalc will work for you.
