    Any Biznet Gurus out there?

    Have a client send this note to me

    I need info on what sage has for financial custom software.  Biznet is taking way too long for me to run – I have had numerous techs look at it and they can't figure it out.  I like everything else about Biznet but for me to recalc reports or even open reports is taking too much of my time.  thanks

    When I asked for more details regarding when the slowness started, she replied

    Started happening when moved to new server and now even worse with new computer was on phone 2 plus hours and they fixed some of it but if sage has something worth a darn I would look at it.

    Sage v2017 ADV is installed on a virtual server.  We had issues early on that @Alnoor Cassim helped resolve but there was no mention of the Biznet slowness at the time.  I believe Biznet is installed on the same virtual server.

    Any thoughts on what to look at?  Puzzling that Biznet can't diagnose the issue.

    While i'm not a BizNet Guru, I work a lot with Sage Intelligence, and have found Server memory and 64 bit Excel can greatly speed up reports.  Also since a Virtual machine, how many cores are they utilizing.  I had 2 customers that we did this for and it didn't manifest itself in Sage 100 (adv) but SI was slow or even timed out.  Worth a shot.​

    Still calling all BIZNET gurus - Client still have slowness issues per note below.

    I am having a lot of issues with Biznet taking so much time to refresh and it has been like this off and on for the past year and a half.  I have logged cases had numerous people look at everything and I get nowhere.   I need to know what Sage offers for reporting and if it has the capabilities that Biznet does as far as custom reporting and all of that as I can't keep going the way I am with spending hours just getting reports to generate with Biznet.

    Anybody???

    Here's what our BizNet Guru says:

     

    Which version of BizInsight?  Version 5 is the one that works with Sage100.  For Version 5 there's an option to optimize data cache which can rearrange the order the components of the report refresh – such as refreshing segment 2 before the main account, etc... depends on how the report is written.  This is really complicated though – I always need help from BizNet to do this, but it has helped a lot. 

     

    Also, how big are the data caches?  On the BizInsight ribbon select Data Caches.

     

    The bigger they are the slower it is.  Removing unnecessary data caches (old fiscal years, budgets, etc) from the BizInsight report help improve the speed.  A lot of people just add a new tab for a new month and before you know it you can have 5 years in the same report.  If you have just one year in the report it will be faster.

    Unfortunately BizNet performance is often an issue. I always defer to the folks at BizNet, but I like @Sue Bennett’s post.
