  • 1.  Bill of Material Options in Sales Order Entry

    Version 2016 Standard.  The user sells many items that are bill of material and have options.  Almost all of the options are not required.  During sales order data entry, a box pops up prompting the user to select an option.  Is there any way to suppress the pop up options box?  Besides being annoying, it requires extra keystrokes.

    "Almost all of the options are not required." If even one option is required, the pop up box is necessary. If none are required, why not just have separate bills instead of a bill with options?

    Thanks  @Therese Logeais  That's a good idea and I will mention it to them as an alternative.  They have a couple of thousand bills and almost all have options so creating duplicates and training the data entry to choose might be an issue.  It sure would be nice if there was a sales order option to suppress the bill of materials option box when there are no required options.  ​

    Yes.  I would like to see an "options" button at the top of the primary grid, similar to the "distribute" button used for lot/serial distribution.  Ideally there would also be a check box in SO Options too that disables the pop up if there are no required options.  Then the user could click the new button to activate the pop up box if they need to select a non-required option.  There would probably also need to be a text display "This item has options" so the order taker is reminded to ask the customer if they want any of the options.  Not holding my breath on this one.  It would probably need to be custom and not sure if the customer deems it that important when they see the price of custom programming.

    A script approach is potentially feasible (totally untested)... if the pop-up panel can have a UI script attached (where you auto-close with an InvokeButton conditionally).
    Set up a line checkbox for "No Bill Options" (used for the condition) and set up a second script (column post validate) to invoke the pop-up function (assuming that is possible) for making the changes.
