Best practice question - Installing SAGE 100 ERP 2014. I have several upgrades to version 2014 scheduled. I have experienced problems in the past with downloading the SAGE 100 ERP software from the SAGE website (usually slow - watching paint dry). Once downloaded I cannot install from the downloaded file. Given that more and more servers are virtual servers (with no DVD drive available), which method is the fastest, easiest most trouble-fee method to download the software to the server it will be installed on, and then be able to install the 2014 software. 1) Once logged onto the virtual server as Admin, download directly from the SAGE website? a) Using Download Manager b) (For those without .NET Framework 4.0 Installed) 2) Download the software in my office and convert to an ISO image so it can be copied onto the virtual server and then ""mounted"" as a virtual device (I will need instructions on how to do this) 3) Use a remote control software on the virtual server and download the SAGE 100 software remotely - let the download run for hours or even overnight for slow internet connections and/or anti-virus interference. 4) Any other suggested methods?

Dropbox. I use it on all my upgrades. About a day or two before I'm planning to install I login to the server, install Dropbox. Let it sync on it's own time. Disconnect. Copy the files to a convenient location.

I've never had problems with the downloads from Sage. I usually download it a day or two before the upgrade is scheduled. By the way - haven't had a lot, but so far my 2014's have been REALLY smooth. Even that issue on 2013 with the AP checks - apparently the mascrw now correctly converts that so you don't have to manually fix.

Lately, the download will extract itself into a folder which does not need to be mounted. I usually copy the downloaded file AND the extracted folder to a USB drive. Usually works for me (though I have had some corrupted files that necessitate downloading a second time.). I can usually copy the file/folder to a network location, then move it to the virtual server location. If you do extract it on the server, be sure to pick a location that is fairly ""shallow"" in the folder structure. I have had issues when the destination folder is deeply buried. Once you have a reliable copy on the thumb drive, take it with you. If you aren't planning to be on site, do a remote connection and copy from your office though I do like Wayne's method.

For the most part, v2014 is going smoothly. I do have a disaster from hell to share at some point when I sober up from. Still an open issue with Sage.

@BethBowers Not sure on the autocorrect for the AP checks - pretty sure I had to make a manual fix for a 2014 UG where the AP check was customized. The PR check issue (where it's not recognized as printed) seems to have gone away.

There does still appear to be speed issues with Paperless Office for Direct Deposit stubs and possibly other electronic delivery. Sage blames Microsoft and claims they're waiting for a fix. Proceed with caution for anyone using paperless office/electronic delivery for large volumes of employees.

@WayneSchulz - well, OK, I can say that ONCE it did autocorrect the checks, because I forgot all about them until the next morning and then panicked, only to find that they were fine. Client upgraded from 4.4.
