Besides FortisPay, CC merchant servicer for a SAGE 100 STD v2024 distributor.

I have a client, that has talked with the folks at FortisPay about Credit Card processing in SAGE 100. Are there other merchant servicers that they should consider?

    TIA,

We have a lot of clients on E-Biz Charge - Century Business Solutions. We have very good experience with their support team and clients seem to be very happy with their fee structure.

No matter who they go with, I would recommend getting rate quotes from more than one - I assume they have looked at Paya already?

Here's the contact info I have from Nuvei from MOTM. I have a couple clients using them. I  suggest giving a couple names and letting the client pick. I also give the client a very short summary of my view of the payments world which is the small and friendly payment companies are usually looking to ultimately be acquired by a bigger payments company. M&A in the payments area seems to be a constant.

I am starting to swing back to Paya/Nuvei after American Payment Solutions was acquired by Repay.  Customer support is so critical to the end user (unless you want to get in the middle).  Paya/Nuvei is native to Sage, prices are competitive and they are responsive.  If they become unresponsive, I can always get Sage Involved.

Below is another contact.  Tom has been at MOTM for many years.  And he answers his emails/phone calls.

I agree on call Tom Nanci. He has always been very helpful and I never get the feeling that he is trying to sell me on something that wouldn't be a fit.

I really hate to admit that I am agreeing with Jeff, but I have been forced to work with Nuvei on a couple of installs and they have been very responsive and attentive.  The support has been good and the software seems to work well. I can't speak about the rates but they seem competitive.

I'm genuinely curious why I don't ever see 90 Minds posts about Century Business Solutions? Is no-one else using them?  I have seen plenty of posts about Repay and mostly those posts are negative in nature. Especially when related to their support.

We have had clients on E-biz for years now. I almost never have to call support except for an upgrade, but when I do, they are johnny on-the-spot.

I haven't seen any negative feedback about them ( except as noted in this thread ). I've stayed away since 2023 when they had this issue with Sage which I never really got a straight (official?)  answer about from either Sage or Century.

I have always had a good experience with Century.   I know that Paya has some good features for clients in some cases and way back in the day I had issues with support (they could not seem to figure out what Sage 100 was...) but it appears that they have gotten better.    Caveat - I only look at this from the technical side I don't do sales...

@David Overholt  -  Bad blood in the reseller community.  They bypassed us by marketing directly, sold their product without involving us and then haven't sent any commissions.  I guess that is the price we pay for ignoring them.

The sole client of mine they did this to was promised "mega" savings from day one but charged two years of savings to set it up.  Owner was irate, said he would never recommend them to anyone.  That was four five years ago.  I spoke with him last month regarding the upgrade to 2025 and possibility of switching processors.  He said he was fine with them now.

I wondered if that was the case. I'll keep my comments to myself going forward now that I know.

I think we have success because we have one of the best internal people you can find handling all our CC customers.  She monitors everything that goes on with our processors too. She stays on top of things and has no qualms about calling Century or Paya/Nuvei out if they market directly to our clients.  They know not to cross her 😊

All of the commentary here is quite relevant. I add a few more considerations.

    • B2B customers (our Sage 100 customers) will increasingly need payment solutions for both A/R (click2pay) and A/P (this is what bolts onto the end of AP Automation, and increasingly applies to managing and reconciling employee use of company cards. There are loads of fees and "float" involved here, so lots of competition.
    • Wayne correctly pointed out the consolidation pressures. These smaller players usually bring better integration tech, and eventually sell out because of the cash flow they can bring to a behemoth.
    • New features are floating through to users. Passing the card fees to the end user is just one. There will be more.
    • ALL these players compensate their sales teams more heavily on landing a new customer than on keeping them. There aren't many incentives in the business to be upfront about limitations or gotcha's from these firms. So, people like Tom Nanci can be very useful in our education, and asking hard questions of multiple vendors is important, comparing their answers. It's not just the monthly fees.
    • Cancelling a merchant agreement can be very, very painful. Be sure you know what that process is.
    • APS was simply outstanding. Repay purchased it, and they did ok but not great. Now Repay has pivoted nearly entirely to the AP side of the business and bigger fish. They did all this with no customer or channel communications (that I saw). They will not be the last to do this, especially for Sage 100 -- the large growth is on other platforms.
    • Meanwhile, Sage - like other ERPs - certifying CC vendors in their ecosystem only after they agree to paying fees based on usage. Century declined, and Sage tried to shut them out. I haven't seen any lawsuits, so none of us is likely at risk. Others might follow or simply leave Sage 100. Customer decisions should consider flexibility if things change.
    • Here is my main point: the functionality of getting paid and paying is one the core ways a Sage 100 customer can simplify and streamline their business processes. An excellent customer portal can add "glue" to customers to make them more sticky. There are now many detailed features some vendors are offering to their integration; their nature and reliability are core to the vendor's value to our customer. A robust customer card management capability that ties usefully into Sage 100 greatly reduces their A/P dept workload. We should be helping our customers understand that functionality and whether/how that helps them, AND helping them check the agreements for risk and flexibility.

I agree with Wayne that recommending a solution can be too risky. But a paid engagement to help them evaluate their options? THAT is part of our value.

Prior to MOTM, I contacted PAYA/Nuvei on behalf of a customer. They were timely and responsive, and I was able to get the answers I needed for the customer. At the 2025 MOTM, PAYA/Nuvei was one of the ISVs. The three representatives were very professional and helpful. I cannot say the same for some of the other payment ISVs there. Because of this, I will always lead with PAYA/Nuvei.
