  • 1.  Beanworks - New server install and migration

    Posted 02-26-2024 16:58

Customer is moving to a new server and upgrading Sage100 to v2023. They use Beanworks and have asked if we could move it as well. They were told by Beanworks that they do not do the install or setup on the new server. I'm not getting much info from Beanworks regarding migrating the companies and settings. I downloaded the installation doc's but nothing on migration. Customer has about 20 companies and I'd rather migrate than redo the whole setup. Anyone have any experience or suggestions?

    I have experience with this.

A customer installed Beanworks right about when Covid started in 2020-2021.

They subsequently upgraded, and I used information from the link below to install the Beanworks sync to the new server.

I notice that you will not be upgrading and instead just moving servers. As such I think you probably only need to install the sync tool on the new server.

Below are the added steps I followed when I had to upgrade to a new Sage 100 version.

I believe  these are the steps:

    1. Notify Beanworks of when you are going to upgrade - they "push" an update so you can select the new version from the BeanWorks synchronization setup
    2. Install synchronization installation.

My customer noticed that many of their checks "doubled up" in history ( I forget exactly what the issue was ) due to the check number expansion (new feature) during the upgrade. It might be worth checking with BeanWorks if they've resolved this issue.

Make sure you contact Beanworks in plenty of time, there support is very slow to respond. I normally have to get my account manager involved to get a response.

Thank you @Wayne Schulz. Do you recall if you were able to move (migrate) the settings within the SyncTool? As I mentioned, they have about 20 companies' setup in SyncTool that link to the Sage100 companies. I was hoping I could move or migrate the relevant files without having to do all the setup again.
