Based upon job postings and session listings at Summit 2016, Sage appears to be developing a Salesforce Community for global customers and partners. My guess is that this will run concurrent with the present systems and not replace them.
Long term, I think it's possible that Sage is setting up this second global class of partner and customer as an easier way to facilitate a future sale of a portion of the company.
