I know the bank feeds question comes up two or three times a year. And I've gotten a few questions from customers about recurring payments that show up in their bank statements -- which is what I think Bank Feeds is for.

What is the current status of your customers?

    Are they using this? Regularly?

How much setup time does it take?

I don't think Sage has made feeds available to partners. My guess is the adoption is still slow, but I figured it was worth checking.

I had one person try it, then quit after a few months.  They were entering ACH payments from clients and weren't careful about what date they were using in Sage and since Bank Feeds looks at amount and date, it was duplicating all of those payments and leaving the real ones as uncleared.  Someone who is willing to be a little more anal would fare better, I guess.

One of the reasons it has a slow adoption is because it isn't available to partners.  Many consultants want a sandbox for testing, preparing for training, troubleshooting tech support issues, etc.  Installing on a live customer site without a test system is reckless, particularly with bank information.

I think Bank Feeds was originally meant to compare, on almost a daily basis, the things that had cleared the Bank (whichever bank you were using) with the items in the Sage 100 Bank Rec module – and automatically check the box to clear those Bank Rec items.  But, since the resellers could never get a copy of it (because Sage has to pay some kind of fee to the clearing house to use it – at least that's my understanding) we haven't done anything with it.  We don't want to look like Goobers when we have no idea how to set it up and how to use it.  If we could get an NFR copy of it, I think we could figure it out.  But we don't want to do that at a client site.  Hence, we've never implemented it.

Since I'm a goober on a regular basis, I threw my client to the wolves and let them go for it.  It's really not hard to setup (as long as you can make the connection to the bank in the first place) or run.

And I just remembered I actually have a client with a different reseller who has been using it for a couple years now and has had no issues that I've heard.  (Except for the occasional internet issue.)

I have a client that insisted on using it because they had been using it with another software package.  I was sweating bullets when they wanted to set it up because I also don't want to look like a goober. It did not work at first, something that was a bug in 2023 PU 0 or 1 I think. I called Sage support and once I got to the right tech they got the hotfix put in got it working. We had to wait a week or so for the fix, but They have been using it for over a year now and I don't hear from them, so I'm sure it has been working every since.

I would agree that it is designed to be used daily or almost daily. If you did it once a month it might be overwhelming. unless you have a really low volume of transactions, but then why would you need it?
