This sounds like the setup for a joke.

Seriously though. Bill.com seems to have the name recognition, Avidx has been promoted by at least 2 members, and Sage is promoting Beanworks. I don't have experience with any of the 3. It also appears all 3 might be taking a bite out of a section of DocLink's solutions.

Of the 3, we have only attempted to introduce Beanworks to our customer base. So far we have only had one taker and no inquiries. I'm sure many could use these, but apparently they are not their priorities.

I am running into this with larger multi-office medical practices. I'm typically seeing it after-the-fact and not involved in the up-front evaluation.

    1. These 3 products definitely cut into doclink, since many users setup doclink only to approve invoices/po's. 2. I have experience with Avidx and have talked extensively with Beanworks. If customer is not using PO's then Avidx is pretty good, and they now at least partially address POs. 3. Integration with Sage 100 is via VI with AvidX. Beanworks is direct. 4. Concur has a significant AP Automation business, with some form of Sage 100 integration. Organize a small evaluation project for the customer to establish their needs now and mid-term, and walk them through compare/contrast with at least Avidx and Beanworks.

I have a medical customer using Concur AP (not Expense) and have written a BOI integration for it with Sage 100.

Anyone care to weigh in on current state and ROI of these 3 solutions?

I have a small(ish) school who bought Beanworks ( now Quadient ) way back at the start of the pandemic (early 2020). Their accounting department is three people and they had just lost their AP person.

The customer raved about it and think's it's great.

The Beanworks portion between the web and Sage 100 is a synchronization only so there was no code to load into Sage ( a plus IMO ). They did have a few glitches and when Beanworks was purchased by Quadient I think the "small company" feel of Beanworks may have diminished.

I don't hear any complaints. i just went through an upgrade to 2022 with the customer and the Beanworks part was pretty simple to get configured. I think in this customer's instance that Beanworks earned so much goodwiil in the early covid days that the customer has seen them a a big time saver and great addition to their AP processing.

I had another customer ( about a 30 user Sage 100 ) inquire about Beanworks. They got to the demo stage and as soon as they heard it did not work with Job Cost ( which the customer used ) the customer abruptly said thanks and ended the demo. I am not sure but I don't think Beanworks supports Job Cost ( I'll gladly update this if that has changed).

Another customer was a larger medical company so very stringent IT. They insisted on sandboxing a pilot test and during the test the sync tool brought down their server (oops). I don't consider this a deal breaker at all since it could also have been that some security tweak this customer made to

Windows interfered with Beanworks. At the time Beanworks did not support unified login however they quickly added it. The customer had turnover at the top of the accounting department so I don't believe they ever finalized BeanWorks.

They are now scheduled to look at Tipalti ( kim.lombard@tipalti.com ) and I attaching what Kim recently sent to me.

At one point I believe Beanworks has problems with PO ROG and Invoice matching however I'm pretty sure a few people in the group said that this now works. I don't have any customers using Beanworks with PO.

I have not done anything with AvidXchange because they (a) seemed like they were more corporate level and (b) came to one MOTM and vanished.

I generally lead with Beanworks ( Quadient ) primarily because I have the most experience with them.

I'd almost always include 90 Minds affiliate ( vendor ) members in the recommended list and explain to customers that by recommending them I know I'll see the people at least once a year and I'm not afraid to discuss any service issues ( good or bad) on the customers behalf.

I only have experience with Beanworks. It works. We haven't run into any issues with the two we've sold.

I had a customer using Bill standalone and inquired about integration with SAP Business One.  They did not have one.  So I looked into the API.  OMG so complex for a "simple" product.  The customer loved Bill but did not like the cost of a custom solution.

I had another sold Concur expense, thinking it was an SAP product and of course, no integration and the third-party integrations did not work with projects.  When I explained why costing to jobs was important, I got the deer in headlights look.

Getting a comparative guide to AP products is on my future wish list, but it appears to be somewhat of a complex question based upon customer needs.  I know I had customers with AvidXChange in my former hosted environment who all appeared happy.   Tipalti seems to be a more robust solution which can work with larger companies, and I assume has a scaled down cost for smaller companies.  Repay also has a payables solution now, but I have not seen it.
