Is anyone using the Avatax option for line shiptos in Sage 100?

I do not believe they actually function properly.  We has a client request we write a script to populate the line detail with the ship to information, since they needed to "modify' one or two lines to a different address and did not want to have to add the information to all the line items.  Then it turned out that the functioning did not really "work" for calculating the sales tax properly.  I don't recall all the details.  In hindsight, we should have had them manually test the functionality all the way through invoicing to confirm it worked for them before investing our time and their money in the script.

One more thing... my client has JobOps installed.  I don't know or think it was why Avalara did not calculate the tax properly; but don't recall.  My suggestion is for a client that wants to test it, have them do a couple of dummy sales order with a few lines each, to a different tax jurisdiction (they can always credit them after the test).  I'd test shipping the entire order at one time (not what was in mind with the tax function); and then shipping partials, with each partial going to a different tax jurisdiction; to see if it worked.

For some reason, I think my client was trying to ship the entire sales order with one invoice, and assumed the tax would be calculated by line, for different jurisdictions.  But I think the functionality is designed to allow one SO for multiple addresses, and then when you ship just one line to address one,  it calculates the tax from the detail lines, not the ship to address on the header.  Then when you ship the backorder lines to the next address, it does the same (calculate tax from the lines detail, not the SO header).

@Madeline Stefanou - this client would actually be wanting to do the same thing as yours - ship them all at once on the same invoice.  They're not using Job Ops, so they get one little plus there, but they DO want to invoice all at once on the same order.

yes.  Avalara has some UDF fields added that support the full address, at the line detail level.

So I've tested this on an old server of a client who uses Avatax and it seems to be working, although I did not post the invoice through to Avatax to verify it was correct there.  But the calculation on the invoice itself seemed correct.  I setup 3 lines of 100.00 each, and had one ship to FL, one to MI, and one to DE (no sales tax).  My sales tax was 13.00, which was 6.00 on one line and 7.00 on the other.  The new fields added to the lines are the full shipto address fields, INCLUDING Shipto Code, which did work for bringing in the address.  @Madeline Stefanou, I know you said the issues were past this point - was it wrong in Sage, or in Avalara?
