Avatax - currently have 2 major issues with Avatax. One on 2013 - freight keeps getting cleared out when the tax recalc happens on the Totals tab. Not EVERY invoice, of course. One on 4.50 - client is getting orders brought in from Website Pipeline and the totals end up only including the freight. So the lines equal 500 plus 10 freight and the total shows 0 plus 10 freight for a total of 10.

Do you also have prices that are overridden reverting to the standard price for the items when the tax recalc occurs?

Not that we know of, but should I be worried?

This is not Website Pipeline but might be related issue. We went live with AVATAX about 3 weeks ago and have orders coming in from the website as well. I was told i needed to add a FREIGHT tax code on the customers Admin Panel on the Avalara site in order for the Freight to calculate and flow in correctly from the website into Sage.

We have a customer where the price is recalculated when tax recalcs.

On 2013 Premium having an issue with Auto Invoicing. AvaTax is calculating incorrectly and the fix from Avalara Support does not work (recalculate utility). Getting this error in the Sales Journal. Avalara Support says they are tracking several similar issues and their programmers are looking into it.

We're getting that, too - not Auto Invoicing.

We have this issue as well with a customer. We've identified it as a problem with the Avatax connector. We've asked Avalara to get with DSD (the publisher of the Connector) to have the connector fixed. To date, they have not done so OR if they have, DSD hasn't fixed it. OR, they haven't posted the fixed connector to the Avalara web-site.

Since AvaTax is branded as Sage Sales Tax, it seems to me they should have more control over it as opposed to Endorsed Solutions. I would expect Sage would then make sure any issues are resolved quickly and coordinate the DSD and Avalara efforts. Then again, at this point who would be at Sage to control any of this?

We had a problem with a customer upgrade to 2013 with a special Avatax rule for drop-shipments. Learned from Jon Reiter that DSD interface sends data to Avalara then Avalara writes it back.

FYI. Our support tech talked with Avalara today about this and this was their response: ""Basically instead of releasing the fix for this issue in one of their regular updates, they're separating it out as a Hot Fix so it can be finished sooner, but still said it would be sometime in June.

@DarinSteward Has this ""hot fix"" been released? We have an v2013 Avatax customer who imports orders with freight from Website Pipeline. They make a change to the Lines and Freight zeroes out.

@BobPfahnl I believe it has. Our support team installed a new avatar connector for our customer and the issues they were experiencing were resolved. You'll have to download the new connector from the Avatax website, if you can find. Lol

I installed this as soon as it came out, and now have the client saying they are getting the ""calculating taxes"" message repeatedly as they tab through the shipto address and it is taking MUCH longer than it did previously. I have reopened the case, started a new case, and emailed the support rep directly. It has now been over 2 weeks and NO RESPONSE AT ALL. Client will be looking at VertexSMB as a replacement for Avatax. Glad I went to Summit.

@BethBowers Re-install prior version to uninstall hot fix an option? What did you learn about Vertex that makes it a replacement candidate?

@BobPfahnl - uninstalling only an option if they decide to stop charging freight.... We're between a rock and a hard place right now. And I learned that Vertex EXISTS, which I hadn't known before. I thought Avalara was the only game in town for sales tax.

@BethBowers Thanks. I'll post an update when received. Meanwhile, I've deferred installing the latest connector. PS. Our environment is in the cloud so perhaps performance is a factor.

@BethBowers Spoke with Rick at Avalara who said he also worked on your case. Says latest connector is good to go and that he needs to get on your client's system to observe their problem. Otherwise, he says their experience has been better performance with the new connector.

@BethBowers Just finished remote session with Rick Johnson. Problem solved. The SO Options setting in Tab 2 Entry for Use Shipping Code to Calculate Freight was set to Actual. Changed to No and freight is no longer cleared. Strangely, it only cleared when using AVATAX Sales Tax Schedule.

@bob - unfortunately my client cannot turn this off

@BethBowers Fortunately in our case, we have weights but no rates. Freight comes from Website Pipeline, not SOE. He recorded our session to show Jon Reiter.

@BobPfahnl - but how do you see the weights if you have freight set to no?

@BethBowers They use StarShip with scales, so weight isn't relevant.

AH, @BobPfahnl My client wants to see the Sage-calculated weight on the Totals tab, and the only way we can is to turn on Freight Calc. Ugh.
