John, is this for sales where the customer has to pay a use tax instead of charging the customer a sales tax?
In MN, if you go to a garage door 'store', buy a door and install it yourself, you pay sales tax BUT if you order a door and the garage door 'store' installs it, THEY have to pay use tax on the cost of the door. I believe it is based on the location of the garage door 'store', not where the door was installed. According to a specific garage door software rep that says it has an integration with Acumatica:
"Here is how we do it with Avalara/Acumatica. We create a simple report that you can run (or schedule to run automatically). The report pulls the cost/price for materials from each completed service order with the service address information (you don't need to worry about the 9 digit zip at this point). Avalara consumes this report, validates the address referenced with the tax jurisdiction(s) and produces the necessary tax submission for review, approval and payment."
Again, I'm not sure why you'd need to know where it was installed (although I'm no tax authority!). I've written a Crystal report for one of my customers to do the same thing but they pay their tax rate, not where it was installed.
