Does anyone know if we can automate usetax calculation in Sage 100 with Avatax?

What's the specific need? There is no address validation but for use tax purposes, it is typically where you are using it, i.e. your own address. So in AP entry, if you set the vendors up with a tax code for your jurisdiction, you just have to signify whether the invoice is subject to use tax or not.

Per our Avalara Rep. there is an integration for calculating Use Tax.  Stay tuned, getting specifics from her.

I have client in VA that processes AP invoices for about 50 locations, so they need to accrue use tax based on location.  AP entry needs to be vigilant and they sometimes miss.  Accounting then has to review each invoice at the EOM before paying.  @Sue Dunn - Do you have anything other than what a sales rep told you?  Did DSD write that interface as well?

There is no AP integration for Sage 100.
    Zip, nada, none.
I spoke with an Avalara Dev team member a few weeks ago and implored them to do so. Not everyone needs Sales tax, but everyone can use Use tax.

I'm assuming Bob is correct.  Had asked for details yesterday on the Use Tax integration from our Rep as well as one of the installers at Avalara and have not heard back from either one.

John, is this for sales where the customer has to pay a use tax instead of charging the customer a sales tax?

In MN, if you go to a garage door 'store', buy a door and install it yourself, you pay sales tax BUT if you order a door and the garage door 'store' installs it, THEY have to pay use tax on the cost of the door. I believe it is based on the location of the garage door 'store', not where the door was installed. According to a specific garage door software rep that says it has an integration with Acumatica:

"Here is how we do it with Avalara/Acumatica. We create a simple report that you can run (or schedule to run automatically). The report pulls the cost/price for materials from each completed service order with the service address information (you don't need to worry about the 9 digit zip at this point). Avalara consumes this report, validates the address referenced with the tax jurisdiction(s) and produces the necessary tax submission for review, approval and payment."

Again, I'm not sure why you'd need to know where it was installed (although I'm no tax authority!). I've written a Crystal report for one of my customers to do the same thing but they pay their tax rate, not where it was installed.

Just heard back from our main Avalara rep and below was her reply.

"So I misspoke when I said we have a direct integration. We do have a Consumer Use Tax (ACU) solution that we offer. There is some manual work with exporting and importing transactions but this solution has been enhanced and is more advanced than you may have seen in the past. Here is a short video on how our Avalara Consumer Use Tax solution works."
