Sage 100 Adv 2022.2 upgrade (test)
Installed Avatax, ran register com utility
Attempting to go into Avatax Company Maintenance - get this.  Latest .Net already installed - thinking I'm missing something else, but not sure what?

If this is a new server (Windows Server 2019+), there is a chance .Net 3.5 is not installed.  Check "Server Manager" > "Manage" > "Add Roles and Features" and step through the wizard until you get to the "Features" step.  If it isn't, I'm surprised you got as far as you did.

Thanks to @Wayne Schulz and @David Speck II - it's the .Net 3.5 and I'll have to have IT install it.  Later version installed OK, but not this one.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!

I ran into this on a Sage 100 2018 ( so it's likely not specific to version ) - my notes indicate that IT had to install these components onto the server and that I also stumbled across a KB article on the Avalara site. Once IT installed the components ( which I believe must go in via an add/remove type process ) the issue went away.

x-ref for future searches - Getting a "Microsoft.NET v2 and WSE 2 must be installed prior to using the Avalara AvaTax adapter" error when installing sage 100

    Overview

I am installing Sage 100 and getting an error that 'Microsoft.NET and WSE 2 must be installed prior to using the Avalara AvaTax adapter.' We have Microsoft 3.5 installed, do I have to install the V2 version?

    Environment

    Sage 100

    Resolution

    • You must install Microsoft.Net Framework 2.0 on the Server and each workstation you want to use AvaTax for Sage 100.

    • If you have a later version (3.5 or later) on your server, you will have to enable the framework in Managed Services:

      • In Server Manager, click Manage and then select Add Roles and Features to start the Add Roles and Features Wizard.
      • On the Select installation type screen, select Role-based or feature-based installation.
      • Select the target server.
      • On the Select features screen, check the box next to .Net Framework 3.5 Features. Expand the selection to confirm .NET 2.0 is included.
      • On the Confirm installation selections screen, a warning will be displayed asking Do you need to specify an alternate source path?. If the target computer does not have access to the internet, you will need to select an installation path for your framework.
      • Confirm, and reboot the server.
      • Launch Sage 100.
