Client on 2017 Premium has Avalara, it's calculating tax on Sage and their website too. The problem is, they get dinged twice for taxes, because the Web Orders (all brought in as one client with different ship to's) are looking at the client PO# and Sage is looking at the invoice number (as the key).

Avalara's response was don't use the AVALARA tax code on the Web Orders once brought into Sage- but didn't offer a way to do it!? If we change the tax schedule in Sage it immediately recalcs the tax and is wrong. Anyone deal with something like this before? thoughts on how to have only one customer not recalc taxes?

So wait, what? Avalara is on their website and passes back one order?? Since it is based on ship-to, how does that work with one order? Or am I missing something??

@Therese Logeais Kinda of :) they have ROI/InSynch as well to pass back the order info.

All Web Orders come into Sage as customer# 01-WEB and the Ship-To Address is updated for each Sales Order. Sales Tax is processed on the website and send through ROI with the Tax Code 'AvaTax' as usual. Does that help?

We have sent an additional email to Avalara to see if they can change how it is processed on the website, but sometimes I feel like I need to walk them through it on the Sage side, ya know?

I have a customer using CIM and Avalara and yes, the sales tax is calculated online and passed back with AVATAX as the tax schedule and it does NOT recalculate the sales tax. I'm thinking this is an ROI issue, not Avalara.

If you recalculate the sales tax, does it correct it? I mean, if you have XXXX amount in taxable lines, recalculating sales tax should correct the tax on the Totals tab based on the line detail. No?

@Therese Logeais So when the tax is processed online, does it submit the status of the tax as 'unconfirmed'?

I think that is our problem. Online, it is committing/confirming the tax amount as if it is an invoice - but there isn't an invoice number so it uses the PO# as the document reference. That info is passed back to Sage with the tax code AVATAX and you are correct, it is not recalculated. BUT when that Sales Order gets shipped/invoiced it passes the data back to Avalara, and since Avlara can't find the invoice number (becuase the PO# was the document reference), it assumes it's a new transaction and commits the tax again - and my client sees the same order twice in their transaction log.

So I think I just need to have Avalara do the website as unconfirmed? As if the Website is a Sales Order, not an invoice (even though the customer is being billed). Right?

My customer's website passes back an order, not an invoice. They then invoice/ship that order and Avalara DOES verify the sales tax is correct but it is NOT a second order/invoice.
