Automatic Bank Feeds

I know Linda Cade was going to get back to us on whether or not Resellers were going to be able to get a license key to use the automatic bank feeds, but I don't believe anything was announced about that.  Just wondering two things:  1)How many resellers are promoting that feature, and 2) How many resellers have forged ahead on their own to figure it out live on a client site. Your feedback would be appreciated!  TIA!

I am not promoting the feature until I see some group feedback. I recall seeing that it either wasn't working or was problematic. I am exceptionally cautious about introducing new functionality because I fear to become the unpaid beta department for Sage.

Thanks, Wayne – I couldn't agree more!  But since Sage has been touting it as one of the "important" new features of Sage 100Cloud, I just wondered how resellers are presenting it.  Or not.

I would love to head feedback, too.  I would just like to know who the champion for Bank Feeds is at Sage so we know who to contact.

The Sage "bank feed champion" will be at MOTM next year to clear the air.  However, after MOTM the person will be unreachable for the remainder of the year.

Very candidly, I don't pay attention any longer to the "I'll get back to you" responses.
The only time we seem to have a concerted effort by Sage to connect is when one of their initiatives is nosediving.

The constant churn at the executive level is not doing Sage any favors.

I checked on it about a month ago and this was the reply and I haven't heard anything since.

We are still working on the partner keys access to a server that can be used for Bank Feed demo purposes.

The questions / complaints we get about BR are due to the module's poor design and less than intuitive process for troubleshooting reconciliation issues... not requests for plugging into a bank feed.
When it comes to new features hyped by a marketing driven organization, I have been burned too many times to willingly walk out onto that kind of bleeding edge.

I agree with @Kevin Moyes. I asked Sharon Jackman ( remember her ? ) years ago at a Sage Summit/Visions conference whether Sage wouldn't get some benefit out of improving Bank Reconciliation since it's one module that nearly 100% of our customer base would ( or could ) use.

She gave me a deer-in-the-headlights and asked what do you think is wrong with BR -- we think it's pretty good.

It's always bugged me that there is no elegant way to connect AJE to BR ( yeah, Transaction Journal which is confusing and seems like an unnecessary step/holdover from the 1980's ) and clearing credit cards through a holding account is 100% kludge.

Yes, yes, yes - we can train customers in some specific workarounds but this should really be much more intuitive and bank reconciliation/cash management would be a module Sage could probably sell to 75% of their on-plan if they just gave it some thought.

I got it connected with a client who uses Chase bank with not issues during the process.  However, the data that came over in the feed didn't look good (deposits showing as withdrawls) and I haven't been able to get back to it and sort it out.  We tried connecting to our internal company account that is at a small regional bank without success.  The bank shows up on the list but the multi factor authentication is creating an issue.  Linda Raby at Sage escalated my problem to the Bank Feeds team last week and I'm waiting to hear back.

Just heard back from Sage - partners DON'T get access to bank feeds in Sage 100c.  I told Linda Raby (and copied Linda Cade) that our customers don't like to watch us fumble around and troubleshoot something new and that as a paying partner of Sage we expected the same access that any other customer received.  What a bunch of BS....

Um, wouldn't this be required to get your Sage consultant certification?  So Sage should be giving us access to it so we can train with it?

Interesting - During yesterday's dog and pony sales call, everyone GUSHED how important the reseller channel was to Sage.  Appears that someone didn't get THAT memo.  I have a client that seems like a good candidate for this.  LOTS of non check transactions making the bank rec complicated and tedious to complete.  So much so, they sub it out to me.  In a good month, it takes two hours.  Average time to complete is closer to three hours.  Guess I will continue doing the bank rec the slow and tedious way....

Every time they brag about the bank feeds I want to scream obscenities.  (But then again, wanting to scream obscenities isn't that odd of an occurrence for me.)

Before I recommend to a client that already received misinformation from Sage and isn't a happy camper....Does the Sage Bank Feed feature in 2018 work well?

They are a health care provider and most of their insurance reimbursements are paid via ACH.  On their monthly bank recon they have about 10 pages, front and back, of deposits that they would rather not have to key each month.  They would like to be able to import those deposits into Sage Bank Recon and subsequently have the ability to do the entry to the GL also.

    Thanks,Pam

Is there any documentation on this feature?  I have a client that has a need that this might resolve, but I can't seem to find any documentation on the portal or in the what's new in 2019....or has this feature not yet been released?

    Thanks,
    Pam

Pam, can you post the documentation here so you can save others the struggle of looking for the needle in the haystack?

Pam - I have several healthcare clients that import their deposits after the fact.  They export the deposits into Excel and modify as needed (mainly add a batch #, customer # and GL account.  Then they use VI to import via AR cash receipts entry.  What used to take 8 + hours to do takes about 15 minutes.

In 2019.1, I configured and executed Bank Feeds in around 5 minutes.  For enabled Bank Code, there is a new Bank Feed button at the bottom of tCheck, Deposit, and Adjustment Entry.  It clearing matched existing transactions and imported new transactions.  Some I deleted because I hadn't recorded yet.  A bank fee transaction I distributed to GL and updated.  I pulled bank feeds again and got no transactions so it does prevent duplication.

Did you do this using your Sage reseller license number, or on an end-user license?

There is a KB now, for partners not being able to demo this, for what it's worth.
