  • 1.  Auto Update Daily Transaction Register

    Minor bug in Sage 100 2019.2. The new Auto Update DTR is a nice new feature for those that always update the DTR anyway. However, some smaller customers don't want to print anything at all and like to update from Preview. If you update any transaction register from Preview the DTR still prints to the printer. The only fix I found was to setup Paperless. It will then send the register and the DTR to Paperless. .

    Customers who update from Preview and then find themselves needing a copy of a register they never printed make me crazy.  If you don't want to print at all, there is NO reason to not setup Paperless and use that functionality.

    And on the flip side, it's a good idea to remind your clients every now and then that if they preview, it will NOT go into Paperless...  Sometimes you get some turnover or someone just starts Previewing for no reason and then find out later they have no PDFs.

    Couldn't you just disable the applicable settings for that feature in Role Maint?

    We constantly recommend no business users have the permission to post from Preview.  Too many of times I've been troubleshooting corrupted data, and unable to find the Paperless journal / register, to understand what "should" have posted...

    All true and I never allow customers to update from preview. This is a unique situation. Single user CPA with AP and GL only and feels he gets everything from the GL reports. Been doing it like this for 25 years. I was showing him the new feature when this came about.

    Moral of the story,  Don't try to teach new tricks to a a CPA. :)

    CPA's are the worst!!!  Frugal AND set in their ways.  SOP for me is not allow updates from preview.  The ONLY exception is perhaps GL.  Print to preview, then "X" out of the paperless doc.  User I have shown the auto GL trans update to like the feature.
