Attn - Requirements for Scripting Session: via: Alnoor Cassim Hi Everyone, For our Scripting session at the upcoming 90 Minds Users Conference in San Diego, CA, below is the information to review and steps to prepare your laptop PRIOR to attending. If you see I have missed anyone please forward this email to them. If you're attending for strictly non-technical reasons such as assessing viability of offering Customizer scripting as a service to clients, then just review the demo links below only. You don't have to prepare your laptop (or even bring it) but I recommend it nonetheless as just ""touching it"" will enhance your understanding. If you're attending for both technical and non-technical reasons, then review the demo links below AND follow the steps to prepare your laptop. Let me know if you have any questions or troubles with the setup below. Format: Our session is 4 hours long and at 1st blush it may seem like a lot but given all the material and demos to go through and the very important accompanying Q&A we will have (including viability discussion above) we will run out of time very fast! We will start out with basic concepts and work our way to the point of beyond the basics. Note: Our lunch falls in between this session. Session Materials and Scripts: Myron and I will pass around a USB flash drive / memory stick from which you can copy all the session materials and scripts onto your laptop. If you don't bring your laptop to copy the files onto then bring a flash drive of your own. Demo Links: A. As an refresher, review one of the following demo videos from Steve Malmgren of Sage if not done already. 1. MAS 90 v4.4 Customizer Enhancements (57 minutes) About 9 demos - does not contain script code explanation http://sage.edgeboss.net/wmedia/sage/mas/sales/v44customizer.wvx On the FTP link below the ACF1F7D.pdf has a listing of the demos. 2. Next Generation of Customizations for MAS 90 (67 minutes) 3 demos with script code explanation http://sage.edgeboss.net/wmedia/sage/mas/sales/nextgencustomizations.wvx Steps for Laptop Preparation: 1. Download these files from this FTP link: * ACF1F7D.pdf * Summit2011_440.M4X * UDFDemo_440.M4X ftp.mas90cpa.com username: scripting password: GroupMe90Minds (sorry my domain host makes me use strong passwords) Browse to the /Scripting folder and you will see all the files There is also a /BOI folder - this is optional 2. Install a brand new MAS 90 v4.40 Product Update 7 and at least ABC demo data. Note: * We are not using v4.50 for the session. * During MAS installation when asked you want to setup security, click on NO SECURITY. It can be added later (below) * After installation of 447 and PU7 and any converting in Company Maintenance, place the downloaded files above into your ../MAS90/CM/Export folder. 3. Setup the Sage scripting demos: 1) In MAS, go to Custom Office / Utilities / Customizer Import Wizard and import the UDSDemo.m4x file. Then import the Summit2011_440.m4x file. You may get a msg about 1 conflict which is for the Scripting.doc file. Indicate you want to overwrite it. 2) In ABC, in I/M Item Maintenance, click on Init UDS button at bottom left. Then click Refresh Shadow button. 3) In ABC, in A/R Customer Maintenance, click Refresh Shadow button at bottom left 4) In ABC, in A/P Vendor Maintenance, click Refresh Shadow button at bottom left 4. Setup MAS Security At this point if you wish you can setup MAS security by going into User Maintenance. I suggest you do as we will be going through scripts that are conditional to roles. 5. Scripting.doc All the scripts and a file called Scripting.doc will be placed in the ../CM/Script folder. You can peruse that if you like before session. Thanks,
