Attempting to import into IM Del/Change file. This is in 4.4 or 4.50 (happens in both). This is the weirdest thing I have ever seen... The file has 2 columns - old item, new item. I assign Start/End to the old item, and Change to the new item. On about half of the lines, it brings in the old item into the Change field. I've tried different file layouts, moving the columns around, etc, etc. Finally I took the OLD item completely off. I have just a file with the new item only. I did the import again, assigning the new item to all 3 fields. And on the first item I have problems with, it brought in the OLD ITEM NUMBER. That is NO WHERE IN THE FILE. (And the MAS file is blank - I checked.) Someone please explain this to me before I have to be committed the day before Xmas.

Any item numbers have commas in them?

No, but who cares? The part number is NOT IN THE FILE.

I wonder if they have ever gotten this to work since they broke it in v4.4? When they finally released it in 4.4, it still didn't work and I haven't bothered to work with it since.. I wonder if any Sage employee has to take the certification tests??????

OK, I think it's doing something like this - if the item numbers are exactly the same to the Nth character, it is using one that already exists in inventory instead of what I am trying to bring in. If I took the first character off one of the items giving me fits, it brought it in correctly. As soon as I put it back on, it brought in the item that already exists instead of this item. Why it doesn't do this on all must have to do with what character first makes the new item different. So, screwed. And so much fun trying to explain this one to Sage next week.

Just ask my husband how stubborn I am. SO, I came up with my fix last night - I did the import in ABC company with TEST as the Starting and Ending number on every line, and the correct NEW item number on each line. Worked fine on getting the right number in there, since none of these existed in ABC. Then I copied the file over to the client's company and redid the import with the same line numbers but this time I ONLY did the Start and End number and did not import the NEW item. Voila! Got the file setup correctly. Now copying it over to the client's machine to run it.

If Sage is going to keep externalizing QC costs we need to start invoicing them to put the costs back where they belong. Especially if Sage expects us to do everything as fixed price engagements.
