Atlanta - you so car-azay. In Chicago, we call this major newsworthy event ""a normal day in January."" http://www.politico.com/magazine/story/2014/01/atlanta-snow-storm-102839.html#.UuriuBBdX_w

We had over six inches here this morning. We only close schools when it is -45 degrees.

It's pitiful. All they would have head to do was sand/salt in advance and there would have been zero accumulation on the roads. It went up to about 40 this afternoon and schools are still closed tomorrow. And despite Gov Deal's BS to the contrary, the storm arrived exactly as predicted. Apparently in the Bible Belt ""the Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away"" is considered a DOT best practice. Back in 1993 there was 5 inches of snow here and people still refer to it as a ""blizzard"".

We get an event once every 3-5 years. This year we all thought it was going to be a light dusting and everyone went to work and school like a regular day. After 2 hours we all realized it was real and everybody left at the same time. A perfect nightmare. Typically if we knew it would be bad everybody would stock up on milk bread and beer and have a 2 day party. Dreaming that Atlanta ever would or should be prepared for a winter storm is a crack pipe I will never smoke. The cost of having the preparedness wouldn't be worth it. I prefer the party anyway.

@phil In 1993 it was over a foot and I remember it rally well because it was the day my daughter was born. We had a drift against my house that covered a 4' high bush. Coming from NY that was the only real snow storm I have seen in my almost 30 years in the south.

LOL - We are getting some on Tuesday. I would guess 5-6 inches. I guess I need to plan for it..... OK - Planning done... BTW - they will probably not treat my neighborhood streeets at all - maybe plow it in a day or two - maybe. We will get a little ice right before it - always do....
