As a followup to the question last night about Evernote. The personal (non-business) version is $ 5/mo or $45 per year. The business version is $10/mo or $ 120 per year There is also a free version however there are limits as to shared notebooks ( I believe they are read only vs editable) and volume of monthly uploads. To me it seems to make more sense to simply share the notebooks with personal (non-business) accounts. In order to share the notebook I just need to send an invite to your email address. (I'm not sure if it's any easier in the business version)

Makes sense. We can always upgrade if necessary. Do we all have to be on the same version? Has anyone experiencd any issues with the personal version that would guide us toward the business side of things?

No issues that I'm aware of and I'm a fairly heavy user. Was that a fat crack?

btmlinesoft@gmail.com Sorry, I've learned NOT to vocalize my observations regarding weight conditions of the world. But do you really need that fourth helping of ice cream even if it is perfect tasting?

I just sent Jeff and Therese invites. So far we're using the Sage 100 KB shared notebook the most. I have one that is holding Sage mailings as well. I think probably the biggest benefit of the business account is you could have a standard set of notebooks which everyone gets access to after joining. Other than that I've not seen or read of any big differences.

I really want some ice cream, you bastard. I'm down 23 lbs from where I started and down 30 from where I was at MOTM.

Exercise and watching my calorie consumption. Cutting out crap food snacks has helped too.

Wow, great to hear the success story. When do you go off to the monastery? What types of exercise? Do you work out with the kids?

Maybe it's worth buying a business account and trying the features on the admin group? The only real benefit I see is the group business notebooks. If those could be shared automatically it might be a benefit vs constantly having to add people individually to each notebook that may be created.

I'm running mostly. I am taking a fencing class again. Biking with the kids. I was coaching my son's soccer team. I'm looking into a kick boxing class too.

I don't especially want to maintain a second Evernote account.

I think you can add your account to a business account - then when you leave all your notebooks are still intact, etc. I'm not sure if they refund your current subscription or if we would just start paying $10/mo for each business user added. What if one of my company's employees already has an Evernote account? If an employee has an existing Evernote account, we strongly recommend that they use it to join the company's Evernote Business account. While it is possible for a user to create a second Evernote account just for use with Evernote Business, they will need to manually switch between each account. In addition, only one of the accounts will receive the benefits of Evernote Business Premium. Keep in mind that Personal Notebooks and Personal Notes in a user's Evernote account are not accessible to other Evernote Business users or the company's Evernote Business Admin.

Is it worth $10/mo to have shared company notebooks where anyone we add would automatically have access? I could see us having notebooks for: Knowledgebase Vendors - contact info, webinar summaries, pricing Sage - contact info, webinar summaries, pricing Sage Summit 90 Minds General - problem customers, member list

    Not to mention Problem Members.

Right now my thinking is that a shared Evernote notebook would be: a. Free for Admin team b. Free for anyone actively contributing c. $120/year for others There's a strong possibility we could go to vendors and sell them a sponsorship - ideally I would love to have a ""vendor"" notebook with pricing, collateral, etc that we keep up to date, If that is possible (am I dreaming?) then we may be able to completely cover costs. I'd guess we would have no more than 40 users on Evernote which is 40 x 120 = $4,800 per year. Charge $1,500 per year for vendors to have an updated notebook - and we could have our money back though we'd have to show some type of ROI. Maybe tie the fee into a webinar charge. Example -- Avalara hosts quarterly webinars + get's an Evernote notebook for internal use = $1,500, etc. I really think we are letting a lot of potential $$ and visibility slip through out fingers.

My only question would be, how are you going to determine ""active"" contributors? How many posts? How many answers? How many questions?

That's a good question and I don't know how we'd do that. In my thoughts we would get vendor sponsorship so the net to 90 Minds becomes zero or we make money.

That's always the problem with these merit based concepts.

I think we should push forward with Evernote Business - we definitely need a solid and inexpensive way to capture knowledge. For now you can make participation (free) by invite only. .02
