Are you advertising in your local CPA newsletter/periodical? I've been advertising almost continuously since I went on my own. I'm strongly considering stopping the ads. I am finding that CPAS are no longer strong referral sources for ERP at the Sage 100 level. Anyone advertising and seeing anything differently with respect to CPA referrals for Sage 100 ERP consulting (new or existing)?

I have 30 CPA partners in the firm, and I have a difficult time getting referrals, so I would suspect CPA's you have no relationship with would not be much different. In any case, I have to proactively remind them we exist. I also am not sure their clients as a rule mention they are looking at ERP systems, because now that they are called ""ERP"" systems, they don't think of them as ""accounting "" systems.

This is one of those black holes of synergy that looks good on paper. It's a rare CPA firm that actually enables their IT arm to be successful by leap-frogging ahead with the current client base. I've always chalked it up to the CPA partners don't want to risk their relationships with the jokers down the hall who fiddle about with computers.

Part of my experience has also been that with Quickbooks getting better, it was a tool that the CPAs felt like they knew and could support/implement and from that point forward, they didn't like or recommend any software they couldn't operate.

Just back from a customer meeting. Their CPA had referred me to them about 4 years ago. The CPA is now recommending QuickBooks Enterprise as the back end to some industry specific mfg software. The customer was surprised to learn that I didn't do QBE because their CPA assured them that I did.
