Are there any speed improvements to the business Insight explorer in newer versions of Sage100? I have a client on version 2013 that is experiencing some sever lagging of BIE and they are asking if upgrading to 2016 will help. + They have a fair amount of data in the files that they are using but not really what I would consider a ""huge"" amount. For example about 400,000 records in GL_DetailPosting table which is one of the offending views. I ran the view on the server and it took almost 5 minutes to populate the BIE screen.

Is this advanced? Are they using the client/server odbc?

This is Standard, but I do have another client that if the CS ODBC is turned on for a user then he/she cannot use BIE

That's strange - turning on CS ODBC was the fix for poor performance in BIE at one of my Advanced customers...

This gives me an idea for Summit ""igniting the passion"" keynote though (cigar and all).

I addressed BIE performance for a 2014.5 Adv client recently. Initially it wasn't too surprising as many of their data files are quite large, and at least in some cases the data goes back to 2003 therefore I suggested that they would probably benefit by performing some archiving/purging activities. However, it was also determined that creating saved filtered Views in BIE helps with the performance. Along with that, it looks like the ""automatically load data"" setting should be disabled so that the standard non-filtered Views don't attempt to auto-refresh and cause the user to sit and wait. Hence it would seem that we'd ideally want to be able to just go into BIE, have no data appear, and select the saved filtered View to run.

Basically, it would be best if the feature that allowed users to define number of records to load be specific to each saved view rather than BIE in general.

Thanks Brett, I wasn't aware of the setting for automatically display could be turned off - that will be very helpful going forward.
