Looking through this thread, any consultant in this situation has a remarkable opportunity to help their customer leapfrog to modern capabilities: a modest consulting project to help the customer choose a replacement system. And, that "replacement" could be ... Sage 100cloud.
It appears that finding a clean upgrade path out of this ancient system is unlikely. So the customer has only two choices: suck it up and live with this antiquity or implement a new system from scratch. The proposed project would first estimate the 5-yr cost, including excess labor, errors and opportunity costs, of doing nothing. It would include all of the current complaints and frustrations in the "wish list" for a "fixed" system.
The project would then proceed to identify 3 likely candidate replacements, INCLUDING a start-from-scratch Sage 100 with appropriate enhancements. Depending on the consultant and customer, the project could include a bake-off of the candidates, managed by the consultant.
The key here is getting the customer to recognize that the current system cannot be anything more than read-only. When that is accepted, the rest would flow pretty quickly.
This is probably a proposal that would only gain traction when the VP Sales and CEO decide the customer impact of the current anachronism is too high compared to its competitors.

Sam - I see you cleverly cross-posted this question in General Consultant Discussion to create some misdirection and laughs. Ha ha! You got me so ignore my response there but note my marriage comment below :-) Yes this is the IIG version (not Ensemble) but I fear there may not be an upgrade path here either unless IIG themselves has a current version and a conversion program to handle their own files/tables. @Andrew Crane may now. They may charge 1.5 arms and legs for it too.
Hey Brett - Answer is Ensemble is actually Not an option, at least for purposes of this discussion. I know the developer and the 2 support guys that have worked there 15+ yrs each. They make a superior product and many of their clients are in fashion industry. But their highest version is 4.40 and the source code including Library Master is highly modified so their clients are pretty much married to them.

Thank you! These people really want to get up to date, but this is a deal breaker. Hoping there's a decent path to get them from there to here.

This looks like IIG's enhancement. Their number is 818-956-3744.
