Anyone using this for demo machines or even for a local desktop that you can access from anywhere? I'm testing and hoping that I could use this setup as a simple way to access a local desktop. Looking for feedback on Amazon Workspaces particularly.

First round of testing - installing Sage 100 to Workspace. Have read previously of lag issues with Amazon. Find that the keyboard control has gone away though I can navigate the screen by clicking. Definitely not a positive first impression on something that's billed as desktop as a service aka pay your dough and go.

Another discovery - while your connection to the Amazon Workspace does not incur bandwidth charges - if you browse or download from your workspace there is a fee. This includes if you setup a DropBox to sync files. I believe it cost me about $15 to sync the 90 Minds Dropbox to the Amazon Workspace. Also Amazon Workspace by default sets you up on D: for your user storage You won't see a C: drive though you can open Windows Explorer and navigate to there by typing in C:. I believe what you really need to do is use that D:\ for your programs and local storage - though Sage wants to default to c:. When I installed Dropbox it seemed aware of the D: user storage and installed itself into D:. In the event you reset the workspace Amazon wipes the C: -- which includes programs and I believe registry. Still unsure how that impacts Sage 100 though I figure not well on the registry side.

I would thing sugar sync is a much more elegant way to accomplish all this
