    Anyone seen this trying to export to excel from a report preview -exceptioon has been thrown by the target of the invocation

    That looks weird. I would try to re-export it with the destination application already open. Excel, for example. If that didn't work, I'd reinstall the application. Finally, I'd uninstall and then re-install the workstation.

    Tried with the open excel first and application. Going to reboot first. It works fine exporting to any other option

    Rebooting server and TS worked.

    What version of Excel? I am seeing instability issues with VBA code in Excel 2016.

    TS does have excel 2016 installed

    Excel 2016, File, Options, Trust Center, Trust Center Settings (button). This area has file blocking options for older versions of Excel and other files. Good to review these options and also let IT know that Sage export/imports using older version of Excel.
