Is it 64 bit? You might try to run as administrator

No, 32-bit....it's my own machine so I am administrator...thanks though!

Did you right click on the FRX icon and select ""run as administrator"" from the list. This is elevated privelages and different than the administrative user rights....

I did, thanks for that suggestion. It still returned the same error message.

WAG - is the system database supposed to be on your local drive or should it be on the network somewhere?

I've gotten that message on a 64 OS, but not on 32. Are you sure the SP installed correctly? Everytime I install the SP in WIN 7, it wants to install to a subfolder of FRx. I chased this for two days before I noticed it. I had to back off the folder during the install

I finally was able to complete the install with SP11 -- had to install SP1 for .net framework 1.1 and then I was able to open FRx without the error occurring. Although John tried the same thing on another Lenovo configured exactly the same as mine and still gets the error. Thanks everyone.

FRX is a nightmare with all the mandatory patches. Clients expect (rightfully) that they can just run a setup program and be ready to roll.... instead it's at least two mandatory setups as well as a sometimes hard to locate .Net component. Then pray you really have the rights to install what you need.
