Anyone know what the setting/problem is on a 2008 server and connected via GoToAssist when you start to install software and the screen sharing automatically stops and you have no more control of the screen even when the party on the other end resumes screen sharing?

I have seen this especially in Custom Office. I am unaware of any solution though I've asked and others have seen this as well.

My customer figured it out .. it has to do with Microsoft security settings. I don't know what he did but I saw him researching and whatever he changed worked after he rebooted the server.

If you find out let us know because I think a few people have run into issues.

@JaneCavanaugh I would very much like to know the resolution. I have three different clients that I connect to their Windows 7 workstation and GoToAssist will lock up after a while. Sometimes we can get things going again when the user ""moves their mouse"" but other times we had to start another GoToAssist session.

It relates to UAC being enabled. I run into the same problem with LMI rescue if you don't allow security override when first connecting on LMI rescue...I would think GoToAssist has a similar setting. This is specific to Vista, Win7, and Win2008.

In GoToAssist, you use the option to run as a service on the client machine. Applications and Services have different levels of security rights, and applications can't process while the UAC dialog has focus. Once you have GoToAssist running as a service, you'll be able to see the UAC dialogs and click ""Yes"" or ""Accept"" when prompted.

What's odd is that this issue has primarily arisen for me in only particular areas - most often Custom Office UDF creation/modification
